Ingredients:
Cake:
2 c flour
2 c sugar
1/2 c butter
1/4 cocoa
1 c cold water
1/2 c buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 eggs
Icing:
1/2 c butter
1/4 c cocoa
5 tbsp. buttermilk
4 c icing (confectioners') sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Procedures:
Cake:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a large bowl combine the flour & sugar.
2. In a small saucepan, or in a microwave dish, combine the butter, cocoa & water. Heat to boiling. Pour over the flour mixture & mix well.
3. Add buttermilk, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, baking soda & eggs. Mix well.
4. Pour batter into a greased jelly roll pan.
5. Bake for 20 mins.
Icing:
1. 5 minutes before the cake is done, combine butter, cocoa & buttermilk in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil.
2. Remove from heat, beat in icing sugar & vanilla. Beat until smooth. Remove cake from oven & spread icing while the cake is hot.
